Our "Mega-Blessing" is pictured in the slideshow below. When we moved into our home in January of 2010, we moved the washer and dryer out to the carport because we put in a kitchen to make the lower level of our home into a rentable one-bedroom apartment. The carport was open to the elements because of a brick lattice wall, and we did not have enough electric capacity to add a 220 line for the dryer. Donna has been going to a laundromat since we moved into our home. Larry and Eny Carrier (good friends of ours from Morningside Baptist Church) found out about this just through a conversation. They were so concerned and burdened that Donna didn't have her own laundry room! Larry came to our home and let us know that he was going to see our carport renovated through raising funds and recruiting workers from Morningside members. After securing the blessing of the pastor and deacons, he began raising funds by approaching members individually. May of 2014 brought in enough funds to begin the work in June. To summarize, $5,800.00 was raised and 18 volunteer workers were recruited for this "labor of love." (Hebrews 6:10) We arrived home on July 26th to a finished project after hundreds of hours were spent on renovating this 14 x 21 ft. space into a beautiful living space with the washer and dryer enclosed in a closet. We were overwhelmed by the time, energy and money that so many people invested in this room. Every time Donna does laundry, and every time we sit in this beautiful room, we will always remember and thank God for all who had a part in this room.
